      Recruitment fraud statement

Recruitment fraud is a sophisticated type fraud involving the offer of fictitious job opportunities. This is often done through unsolicited emails, phone calls, online recruitment services (ex. Indeed), fraudulent websites or text messages claiming to be from Caterpillar Inc. The purpose of the fraud is to obtain personal information or money.

Recent incidents have occurred involving both individuals and organizations falsely claiming to recruit on behalf of Caterpillar Inc..

      Warning signs:

During the application process, Caterpillar Inc. will never:

      • Request money (e.g. for ‘visa fees’, taxes, a percentage of travel expenses).
      • Request personal information such as passport and bank account details, often at an early stage.
      • Send emails from free web-based email accounts such as Yahoo, Gmail or Live.com.
      • Make substantial spelling and grammatical errors.
      • Insist on urgency from the outset.
      • Use poorly formatted documentation.

Caterpillar Inc. would never ask prospective employees for direct payment to process documents and arrange visas. Candidates should not send money at any time to a Caterpillar recruiter, and should confirm all recruiter email addresses end in @cat.com.

We recommend that you do not respond to unsolicited offers of employment from people claiming to work for, or be affiliated with, Caterpillar Inc. If you believe you have received a fraudulent communication, we advise that you contact your local police.
